09 Dec Hammer Toes and Claw Toes
Hammer Toes and Claw Toes
Hammer toe can be caused by ill-fitting footwear, trauma to the toes, arthritis, a high arched foot or a problem with the ligaments or tendons in the foot. Patients may have difficulty walking, decreased flexibility in the toes and are more likely to develop bunions, corns.
Claw toe is a form of deformity of the toes causing them to bend inwards in a claw like position. This condition can be caused by ill-fitting footwear or by nerve damage (diabetic or otherwise).
